Online Child Adoption

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/adopt-ct-edit-1031-20131031,0,5578530.story

I feel that if people want to adopt a child they shouldn't be able to do it online because they should want to get to know the child first. Also putting your child up for adoption online you don't have the interaction that is needed for a proper child adoption. Families should want what's best for their kid and take the proper time to find new parents for their child. By going online families are rushing the process and doing what is best for them not necessarily what is best for the child.

Coyotes Ready to take the Court

http://www.keloland.com/videoarchive/?videofile=131030US

The USD coyotes are looking up this year which is good for South Dakota as far as NCAA sports. With the loss of Nate Walters from SDSU that team is looking down but hopefully USD can represent South Dakota this year.

Aid Group Delivering Cattle to South Dakota

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/aid-group-delivering-cattle-to-sd/?id=155261

These cattle being provided will greatly help with relief efforts in western South Dakota. Even though the cattle given are a fraction of the ones lost it will still provide much relief needed.

Editorial on Gun Control (Navy Yard Shooting)

http://www.stltoday.com/news/opinion/columns/the-platform/editorial-if-the-mentally-ill-can-buy-guns-the-nation/article_22e869b0-b7d7-5ef4-a69c-52f213c95ff0.html

If the man that did the killing was really mentally ill he wouldn't have been legally able to obtain a gun under national background checks. The background checks are in place for just that reason and they work if properly performed. This article also says that the phrase "The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" doesn't apply to the Navy yard incident. If there would have been one person that wanted to take out the gunman in the shipyard they easily could have. Simply put all that a law completely banning guns would do is take the guns out of the hands of the good, honest American's hands and leaving them in the hands of criminals that obtain their guns illegally anyway.

Chrome Books to Sioux Falls Elementary Schools

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/chromebooks-arriving-at-sioux-falls-elementary-schools-/?id=154966

I feel that no matter how much parents might want to limit their kids' use of technology that the kids will always need it in their future and the more they use it at a younger age the better the will be off in the future.

Slowed Harvest in the NorthEast

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/snow-delays-harvest-in-northeast/?id=155005

Harvest has been slow for everyone but when you get the harvest done doesn't matter too much unless we end up combining corn in the snow or in the spring like we have been forced to do other years.

Disposal of Cattle From out West

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/gov-extends-executive-orders-for-cattle-disposal/?id=155018

I feel that the extension of the orders is necessary to advance the cleanup of the dead cattle from the terrible october blizzard.

Texas High School Coach Accused of Bullying

I think that every state should have the "Mercy Rule" like South Dakota that doesn't allow a team to score more than 50 points over another team. There is no point in continuing a game with that large of difference.

SD Pheasant Hunting Capitol

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/will-south-dakota-lose-its-distinction-as-pheasant-capitol-of-the-world/?id=154663 Pheasant numbers are at an all time low. Experts say that it is due to the loss of habitat from farmers digging up CRP and planting crops. My thoughts are that the over populated raccoons and coyotes are killing them.

Football Concussions

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2011-04-26-young-football-players-need-concussion-laws_n.htm
I think that if students choose to play football there is the risk of breaking a bone or getting a concussion. Both can severely effect your life. When you play football you sign up for these dangers. There is little to no way to avoid breaking bones or getting a concussion. The risk of injury is there from the beginning to the end and what happens, happens.

Coyotes to Iowa

http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/yotes-head-to-northern-iowa-saturday/?id=154675 The USD coyotes are going to Iowa to try to get back on their game and improve their 3-3 record. The fact of playing in a dome is a big factor to this team.

Feige Combining

Local farmers came together to help a family in need last week. David Feige passed away two weeks ago from a tragic farming accident. Farmers from all around came to help the family out with combines, grain carts, and semis. The family was very grateful for the help provided right before a rain coming. Twenty-six combines harvested 1100 acres of soybeans in one afternoon.

Texting and Driving

http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/10/08/woman-20-accused-of-texting-while-driving-faces-up-to-10-years-for-fatal-crash/

Texting and driving has been a long drawn out issue. Most can agree that it is dangerous and takes much of your attention off of driving. Many people still do it even though they know it is wrong. The newest thing in texting while driving is changes being pressed against the people doing it.
